Akron Coffee Roasters Coffee Lab Celebrates Grand Opening  in Bounce Innovation Hub with Special Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Despite the gloomy greys of an unassuming fall morning in Akron, neon signs with “Akron Coffee Roasters” and “Coffee Lab” shining in bright red and blue invited visitors to Bounce Innovation Hub on Monday, November 18. A new café opened in Bounce’s Generator after the space was vacated earlier this fall. Albert Macso, founder of the beloved Akron Coffee Roasters, met with Bounce to partner on a new project: the Akron Coffee Roasters “Coffee Lab.”

Excited guests, city leaders, and other community members gathered in Bounce to get their first look at the new café. Above the counter, “COFFEE LAB” greets Bounce guests in bold, black text. Lightning bolts bookend the words “The Coffee Lab,” symbolizing the energy and vibrancy of the new space. Shortly after 11:00 am, Albert and Bounce CEO Jessica Sublett took their place in front of the café to cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the Coffee Lab.

“This opportunity came up… it made too much sense and was too good to pass up,” Albert explained during the ribbon-cutting. “It feels comfortable and welcoming to be here with everyone we know. We’re excited to start operating and serve you all some coffee and food!”

The menu takes inspiration from Albert’s other spots, the original Akron Coffee Roasters in Akron and Asterisk Coffee Bar in Cuyahoga Falls, to combine for a refined experience with options for morning and afternoon. From their famous pour-over to new additions like fresh vegetable soup, the Coffee Lab has offerings that will provide patrons with familiar favorites and enticing new finds. In the spirit of innovation within Bounce, the Coffee Lab also plans to introduce experimental creations for customers to test before potentially launching at the other locations.

The Akron Coffee Roasters Coffee Lab will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The café is open to the public.
