This month, we sat down with Néna Roy, executive director of Akron Promise to discuss her organization and what working at Bounce means to her. Néna rents a reserved desk on the first floor in the Generator.
Akron Promise facilitates connections, scholarships and enrichment activities to improve education opportunities in Akron. This can include activities like connecting students to tutoring, assisting with job searches or interview practice and tips.
In 2022, the organization wants to raise enough money to offer each student at Garfield CLC a scholarship to Stark State College.
Néna encourages individuals to sign up to be mentors for students. Mentors can help students identify and achieve their post-high school goals by connecting with the students.
