I'll be honest – it had been a long few weeks (who am I kidding - months). We'd just opened our renovated second floor and I was running on fumes wondering if all our work was paying off.
Then, one unassuming Thursday morning, I witnessed the magic that makes all the hard work worth it.
First, I was sitting at the kitchen island when I spotted one of our newer members giving a tour. When the visitors turned around, I recognized them – a company I'd been working with on a potential team membership. Turns out, the new member had just left that very company and was thrilled her former employer was considering Bounce.
Twenty minutes later, glancing through our conference room window, I saw another member walking into a meeting with one of our upstairs tenants. Later, I discovered they'd bumped into each other in our shared kitchen, realized the tenant's company had exactly what our member needed, and within days they were working together on a new project.
By lunch, I had witnessed more meaningful professional connections than most people make in a month. And days like this happen constantly here.
Here's the thing – these moments don't happen when you're working from your kitchen table, battling the isolation that's become epidemic since remote work took over. They happen because Bounce is designed to tackle loneliness head-on with intentional infrastructure that encourages serendipitous collisions. Our shared spaces – the kitchen, communal areas, even the elevator in our almost 100-year-old building – are where magic occurs when you put over 200 people each day from different industries in the same beautiful space.
Part of my job is being a human LinkedIn, constantly listening and making intentional connections. Sometimes the best introductions happen over coffee in our café, not through an algorithm. Beyond the organic connections, we're intentional about helping our community members be successful. Our community workshops boost learning, and twice-monthly lunch yoga sessions give people permission to reset and recharge – sometimes, the best networking happens in tree pose.
In my two years at Bounce, here’s what I’ve learned: working in isolation isn't just hard on your mental health – it can affect your career and personal growth. The loneliness of remote work is real, and it's costing us connections, opportunities, and joy in our work. Even more introverted people can find increased mood & motivation in working around other people. Change your scenery from your house to a space surrounded by hundreds of pieces of local art and rich history.
Maybe you'll observe someone doing something that brightens your day. Maybe you'll ride the elevator with someone you were meant to meet. Or maybe you'll discover your biggest business solution is sitting three tables away.
Bounce offers options for everyone across our nine floors – from day passes to commercial office, laboratory, or light manufacturing space. Everyone gets access to The Generator, where collisions are frequent and magic happens daily. We have meeting rooms and event space for 4 to 250 people, perfect for teams wanting to switch things up from their regular office.
Ready to experience the difference community makes? We offer free coworking days every fourth Wednesday, plus summer food trucks. Even if you have an office, try us out for your next team meeting.
Schedule a tour with us and come see what we're building. I'd love to meet with you and show you around. Who knows? You might just become part of someone else's collision story.
